The lab is developing a growth cluster for thin films and heterostructures, supporting materials that are traditionally difficult to combine or prone to cross-contamination.

Temperature- and field-dependent measurements support magnetism, transport, and functional-property studies.

Thin-film deposition capabilities support oxide, metallic, and multilayer samples used in magnetism and interface studies.

Patterning, thinning, and device/sample preparation capabilities support both in-house studies and user-facility experiments.

Electrochemical growth supports nanowires, nanowire scaffolds, and compositionally complex nanostructures.

The group uses neutron and X-ray facilities at ORNL, NIST, and related laboratories for measurements that are not possible in conventional laboratory settings.
